Occassionally there are spammers who put up spam comments on lots of people's walls, and the administrator removes these comments. However, the email alert goes out as soon as they are posted. So it sounds like you been spammed, received the alert indicating a new message, and then an administrator has deleted the spam message before you had a chance to read the comments.
