this story below was carried on cbsnews.com and is about how much the poker player alliance spent lobbing last year...but what i like to see is in the 3rd paragraph they correctly reported that online poker is legal :-)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Poker Players Alliance spent $900,000 in 2007 to lobby the federal government on online- gambling legislation.The group, which says it represents 800,000 poker enthusiasts nationwide, lobbied on a bill that would exempt poker from a law that restricts online gambling, and for legislation that would regulate the Internet gaming industry, according to a disclosure form posted online Feb. 15 by the Senate's public records office. The alliance spent $780,000 lobbying on those issues in the second half of 2007.It's legal to play poker online, but the law made it illegal for domestic banks and credit-card companies to process payments to online gambling businesses. The act, passed in 2006, bars financial institutions from handling gambling transactions, with exceptions for lotteries, horse racing and fantasy sports.The Poker Players Alliance is chaired by former New York Sen. Now I realize that advantage players don't have an advantage in online gambling, because the casino can detect them and treat them as cheaters.

Even when you think you're being righteous with Black Jack skills, the casino sees card counting as cheating. It is a gray area that needs to be debated between gamblers and online casinos.

On the other hand, you could seek those online casinos that don't see your betting system as cheating. After you master a betting system, like Fibonacci, D'Alembert, Labouchere, or Martingale, just Google "how to cheat online casinos." You could do well after registering at a casino that doesn't see your system as cheating. If you do take this route, I would do the research online first, any preparation work is wise. You never know what kind of tips you'll get. Try to keep your profitable betting system to yourself, because you really should be mastering more honorable career skills.

Frustrated and concerned

I been getting a might frustrated here lately . As most you all know we at the houseofpokerblues.com have been hosting a monthly Charity Ball at Carbon Poker before it was even named Carbon . Back when it was known as poker.com we had got this game started .Well as you might have read , or even heard , my buddy Brad and I were on Rounders Radio talking about the game a bit , about how half the proceeds go to the Make a Wish Foundation . I had talked with one of the big shots at Carbon a couple hours before we went on air , so the site was fully aware that the game was going to be discussed.....The show drew some interest it seems . I got up the next morning and had some mail stating that the game was no longer in the schedule....the first time that has happened in about a year ! I can't get my affiliate manager, or another manager as well , to reply back to me at all on this issue and the game is supposed to be this Saturday . They have always replied promptly in the past , so this is a first as well.....I'm starting to get a might concerned now .I'm starting to feel like I've been made a fool of and it's not appreciated at all.......I hope I'm wrong .

Poker as a friendIf you are reading this then you either already play poker, have an interest in playing poker or you have stumbled across this site and something caught your eye.Across the Internet there are thousands,possibly millions of articles based around poker and its rules, strategies and celebrities. Many are unique and many you will have seen over and over again. Just the same as your Pocket Rockets being cruelly beaten on the river by pocket 4's.I would like you to take a different look at the game of poker. View it as I do. View it as a friend.I have been playing poker on line since mid May 2006. Just under two years.In that time I have been called a FISH or DONKEY many a time. I have also been called much worse on the odd occasion. All is not bad though as many a time my play has warranted and received shouts of 'Well Played', 'Good Call' or 'Good Hand'Just like a true friend, poker scolds you when you are bad and praises you when good.Poker ,just like my second love football (soccer to my American friends), takes you on a joy ride through life. All the time treating you like a best friend should. Poker will drag you down till you feel that you are the lowest of the lows. When you have spent the last dollar of your bankroll however poker is still with you.Poker will also take to the summit of your card playing life. Winning that WSOP Main Event seat or becoming forum champion poker will shout,scream and celebrate with you. Poker will still be there.Day in Day out you meet some great characters and some not so great. Friendships will be created and enemies will be met. Fondness and rivalry will both be encountered on the same day and highly likely on the same table in the same game.And why we ask ourselves?The answer is plain and simple. Poker is a game enjoyed and loved but also despised by millions throughout the world. It can become our worst enemy or our best friend.I consider poker as a friend and can honestly say that because of poker I have made some great friends worldwide. All of which I would almost certainly never have met if it wasn't for my friend known only as poker.So ask yourself this.
